  • Would you pay to be able to host Slinkset directly on YOUR site?

I am a big fan of Slinkset, but think they are missing out on a big money maker. If they offered the Slinkset scripts for sale I would definitely buy a license right this moment.

My suggestion is have two options - a single site license and a developer license for unlimited sites. I would pay a similar price something like this:

    $75 for single site license
    $175-$250 for unlimited site license

I'd want free updates whenever new versions are released.

Main reason I want to host this myself is more control and hopefully more locations to put advertising (besides the sidebar). Other reason is it seems that a Slinkset generated site would rank better in Google if hosted in this manner.

So, I would pay.... anyone else out there in the same boat?

    :)

    I would purchase the script.

Would also be interested in beta testing for you.

I'd pay for a faster site and more frequent refreshes on feeds.

There are some social bookmarking/digg-alike apps and service out there, say, pligg, scuttle, markaboo, etc., I don't think your price proposal is appropriate, and I think it's important for slinkset team to make users happy at this early phase more than make fast money.

Disagree 100%. Slinkset is executed well, and this is all about execution. Pligg has tons of spam problems, scuttle/markaboo are not the same, and reddit requires too much monkeying with servers (even for tech people like me, our time is more valuable paying for infrastructure than building it).

      It's worth paying for.

I think it is the basic Reddit.com script available at http://code.reddit.com You can download it for free - but implementing it is not for the fain of heart ;-)

Would also be willing to pay but prefer a hosted solution. Nevertheless a pro account would need more way to customize it (especially own branding at sign up - integration with existing accounts... ).

I am interested in anything that will give me more control over the platform. Even paying for a software license :) However, they would be competing with software like pligg which is already feature-packed and open-source. Even though I have the technical ability to get something like pligg up and running with my own theme etc, the reason I use slinkset is because it is so simple and easy to use.

My thoughts exactly. I want Slinkset hosted or premium version dearly.

yup, its an idea, im wondering how they are going to monetise their concept. something like this could be on the cards. me im hoping they will implement a simple mailing system similar to reddit's for a yearly fee.
