I really want to run google adsense on my site, http://theregularpeople.com, in the sidebar, which I have... but since it's in an iFrame google can't really pick up on the actual content of the page. I've tried some workarounds without too much success as you will notice the ads aren't super relevant.
There should be a better ad solution!
Even though I don't run any ads on my site, I think this would be a fantastic addition.
I see adsense is on that site... does that mean you figured it out?
Looks like he put a bunch of extra text in the sidebar for the ads to cue off of and then used CSS to hide that text.
I HUGELY AGREE!!! :D Just noticed this myself... ( still learning what an iFrame is too :D )
I doubt I will get any kind of notice if you reply here and I don't check back for a while ( that's a suggested feature in itself !!! :D Email notification of replies ! ) SO... If you figure out a way of sorting this i would love to hear about it! rategood[@]me.com - Cheers!
You're right, there should be. It's on our radar.
My understanding is the reason for the IFRAME is for "security".
(I gather people putting arbitrary HTML in the sidebar can get access things??)
Anyway, ... a possible workaround would be allow admins to enable Google Adsense outside the IFRAME. Not arbitrary code, just Adsense code. ... or maybe just the "parameters" that will be inserted into the standard Adsense code.
By the way, what are the security risks if the sidebar is not in an IFRAME? Maybe some of us nerds could help solve the issues you are concerned about, so we can remove this limitation.
