Assuming you don't want to deploy it yourself and only want to point a domain you own to slinkset.com, then the answer is yes.
Wherever you manage your DNS create a CNAME alias pointing the domain you want to slinkset.com. Then log in to slinkset and click "Settings" for the site you want. Go to the "Advanced" tab, put the domain in the "Custom Domain" field and save.

I am a big fan of Slinkset, but think they are missing out on a big money maker. If they offered the Slinkset scripts for sale I would definitely buy a license right this moment.
My suggestion is have two options - a single site license and a developer license for unlimited sites. I would pay a similar price something like this:
$75 for single site license
$175-$250 for unlimited site licenseI'd want free updates whenever new versions are released.
Main reason I want to host this myself is more control and hopefully more locations to put advertising (besides the sidebar). Other reason is it seems that a Slinkset generated site would rank better in Google if hosted in this manner.
So, I would pay.... anyone else out there in the same boat?

So my two sites are not updating their RSS feeds. Are the feeds down? Or is it possible my sites reached their monthly limit, in ONE day. What is the limit? I saw it mentioned below in another question.

Currently, RSS Feeds are posted automatically (which is great), but items are not assigned to any particular category.
I would like to connect one RSS Feed to one Category, and another RSS Feed to another Category.
Can you please add this feature?

I really want to run google adsense on my site, http://theregularpeople.com, in the sidebar, which I have... but since it's in an iFrame google can't really pick up on the actual content of the page. I've tried some workarounds without too much success as you will notice the ads aren't super relevant.
There should be a better ad solution!

An idea would be to allow a limited number of domains to be disallowed from a site. That is, users would not be allowed to add links from any domains in the list. (I believe hn disallows links from valleywag).

Private - Only people you invite can participate.
Editorial - Anyone can vote or comment. Only the users you designate as editors can post. -

I would like to know how long it would take to update an RSS on slinkset. I found on this forum that the time is ~3hrs. Is there any changes for that?
I would really like to see the time limit being taken down to at least one hour. Or a manual update button would be ok too.

Google Reader has a "Send to" feature with a bunch of pre-set destinations (including Posterous), the others can be created in "custom setup".
Would anyone know the string to enter in the URL field to be able to post to Slinkset?

17.How do I change the order of my links? (golfpage.slinkset.com)
I'm posting a list of golf courses and having users vote on their favorite course. Problem I see is even though a course might have 3 points while another course only has 1 ponit, the course with 3 points is still on the bottom of the list under the "popular" tab. I was assuming that the Link that has the most points would rise to the top. How does the voting by popularity work?
Also, is there a way to set the order of the links (or in my case "courses") the way I want from top to bottom and let users vote for their favorite courses from there?

My site will be public, but I don't want to require visitors to create an account on Slinkset to submit and comment on ideas. Yet, it is important that we know who is submitting ideas and to have a way to contact them. Would it be possible to add fields for the visitor's name and email address on the page where they submit ideas. This would be much like the comment functionality on many blog publishing platforms. The name and email fields could be optional, but they'd be very helpful. Thanks!

One of my sites is getting spammed quite regularly - about 3 times a day. Sometimes I catch them right away, sometimes 6 or 12 hours later. It doesn't get that many real items or voters each day so the spam usually appears on the top of the popular page unless someone comes along and downvotes it. This is quite attractive to spammers I'm sure.
Also my slinkset items are cross-posted to twitter after via twitterfeed, once every 12 hours. Depending on when the spam is posted and depending on when twitterfeed pulls the items, the spam gets posted to twitter too unless I catch it. Also the spam is pulled into the 'popular' RSS feed straight away.
Usually, I just ban the username and press 'delete all items' but I'm curious to know what this does. Does it just ban that username or IP also? I have anonymous posting enabled on my slinkset but the spammers have not figured that out. they always post with a username connected to a @googlemail address for some reason. If they did post anonymously, how could I ban them? I think they are probably using a script that autoposts their spam.
I'm thinking perhaps because I submitted my slinkset to the 'discover slinksets' slinkset - they spammers found out about it there..curious to know if anyone is getting the same type of spammers?
What would be cool is if when someone submits an item, slinkset would stall the submission until I either allow or disallow it to be posted. when the slinkset grows larger and has more users, then it would be self moderated and the option to do this could be turned off. This is probably a complicated solution - perhaps it could a part of a paid account with slinkset? As a kind of quick fix, do you think it would be good to have all posts be given 0 points off the bat? - that way items would only show on the recent page and the spammers would have to write a script that upvotes the item too to make it onto the home/popular page

this is not a query, just help for anyone who might have such a query. for my slinkset site at least i wanted to center the logo+banner and remove the title and sub-title from view as they were already drawn in my banner so what i did was first edit the css to center the image using....

}and then i moved the title and subtitle off the page using....

}the reason i used this method instead of display:none is that i want search engines to pick up on it. i could also have just matched the color of the font to the background image, say white on white but likewise it has been said that some search-engines notice this and think you are trying to game their results and penalize you for it. also using the above method, makes it accessible for screen-readers and html only browsers.
if anyone finds anything wrong with the above code, let me know. read a book on css 6 months ago but then went in another direction so i have not been practicing and im no expert. hope its useful to someone.

You need to confirm your domain with them by uploading a specific webpage or meta tag in the header. Similar to the analytics code, all that would be needed is provide the webpage code or the webpage name.
I realize I could unpoint my domain from here, but I dont want to have to do that. I think many people would appreciate this feature and its very simple! If you can't add it - could you manually help me out?

The page could follow the voting algorithm, and/or it could be admin selected.
This is stuff users must see.
Mailing lists use this trick. Newbies get pointed to archives to prevent reiteration.
Another idea would be a personal "best of" list. It could be shareable too.

Otherwise there is a "blink" while the server makes the request for the new image file. There are other techniques to avoid this, but preloading makes the most sense to me.
