Assuming you don't want to deploy it yourself and only want to point a domain you own to slinkset.com, then the answer is yes.
Wherever you manage your DNS create a CNAME alias pointing the domain you want to slinkset.com. Then log in to slinkset and click "Settings" for the site you want. Go to the "Advanced" tab, put the domain in the "Custom Domain" field and save.

Is there any search functionality implemented similar to reddit.com
Thanks

An idea would be to allow a limited number of domains to be disallowed from a site. That is, users would not be allowed to add links from any domains in the list. (I believe hn disallows links from valleywag).

hey guys do you know when the image thumbnails feature be up or some type of feature that lets us add an image when we submit news?

Is there some way to manually refresh an RSS feed for new content submissions?

A page listing best <b>all time<b> threads.
The page could follow the voting algorithm, and/or it could be admin selected.
This is stuff users must see.
Mailing lists use this trick. Newbies get pointed to archives to prevent reiteration.
Another idea would be a personal "best of" list. It could be shareable too.

Public - Any slinkset user can view, post, vote and comment.
Private - Only people you invite can participate.
Editorial - Anyone can vote or comment. Only the users you designate as editors can post. -
need help? would be great to be able to use it in other langages!!!

my comments on the slinkset features site (see the URL) appears in a rather non-intuitive order; when I'm posting this, the order is "5 days ago, 4 days ago, 3 days ago, 3 days ago, 7 hours ago, 5 days ago, 3 days ago, 2 minutes ago". strictly descending would be nice.

Hey Guys,
Well I just found out about this and was wondering how I could pair my godaddy domain with it? Do I have to buy hosting? I was looking at the instructions and it told me to change the CNAME? where would I find that in Godaddy hosting domain center?
Thanks,
WizzKid

I see to be having difficulty adding images recently. Are there any recent problems there?

I can't find any prices, or conversely any mention that SlinkSet sites can be set up for free or with SlinkSet-provided ads.
Is SlinkSet free? Will you insert ads or start charging without warning?
Can we insert our own ads in the sidebar?

I really like some of the design/css/ layout of some of the "Featured Sites", e.g.: news.thinkgene.com. Are those designs/ layouts shared with the community? If so where do I look for it?
Thanks!

The actual content now ends up beneath the sidebar in at least FF2 and IE (looks good in Safari, though). I see this both on my own site and in this forum. On FF2, the first entry on a page also gets pretty badly mangled; the number and the arrows appear in the right location, but the rest of the entry is formatted in a very narrow box.

I want to set something up that's not based on links, but submitting original content (not from an outside source). I would like to see the ability to disable the "URL" field when submitting.

Is there any way us Slinkseters can have access to the underlying template code?

Hmmmmmm

Hi there! Live this service :) I'm definitely going to use it on some of my sites. I was scouting ofr a rating tool that covers my needs this week and accidently came across slikset. I would like to integrate it with a social platform that has a login feature and an API. Since I would prefer not to use another login for my users, auto login trough api would be nice!, very nice!
Cheers,Steven

I was trying to figure out why I couldn't see any images for the voting controls on my slinkset. In inspected the html and the input images are pointing to images/blank.gif as in:
input type="image" class="upmod modder mod-button image" src="/images/blank.gif" alt="Vote Up"
So...is there something I need to do to configure voting images for my account?

Otherwise there is a "blink" while the server makes the request for the new image file. There are other techniques to avoid this, but preloading makes the most sense to me.
-
When I login, then press "Manage Site," I'm asked to login again.
-
I wouldn't mind, for example, a place for a right-sidebar 'blogroll' on my slinkset. The first thing I'd put on it would be news.ycombinator.com, which is where I found you.
Thanks for rolling this site out, by the way. Really very cool. -
It depends on the type of site.
Public - Anyone of submits a link, votes or comments
Editorial - Anyone who votes or comments. Users the admin selects can also become editors.
Private - Anyone who is invited by an admin and accepts the invitation.
